Reinstatement/Rebuild Cost Surveys: Site or Desktop?
In this episode of "Ask Amy", Amy answers one of the most frequently asked questions that we receive from the new insurance brokers, managing agents and insurers we work with: "When would you normally do a site survey, rather than one of your famous desktop assessments?"
The question is an important one, and it relates to calculating how the 'reinstatement' (or 'rebuild') cost of a property can be calculated accurately for building insurance purposes.
Property owners that get this valuation wrong can easily find themselves underinsured by hundreds of thousands (potentially millions) of pounds. Most of the time, our desktop assessments, which only cost up to £160, do the job perfectly. However, sometimes a site visit is needed (from £510).
Watch Amy's response here to find out when a site survey might be needed.
